Rolep is part of the old Silk Route which is connected to China through Nathula Route for the propagation of trade and pilgrimage of Mansarowar. It situated at the bottom of Tshangu Lake and Memeantshu Lake along with the Rangpoo khola belt which is famous for Trought fishing and pure coolwater. This place is different from other popularly known tourist destination in Sikkim because it is neatly tucked away from modern civilization. Here anybody can enjoy the peace and tranquility of mother nature preserved in a very natural way. This village is surrounded by very thick forest where verities of orchids, more then 150 rare medicinal herbs,60 to 70 species of mammals, birds, butterflies and reptiles.
Rolep River belt is best for fishing, people from different areas coming for fishing and picnick. Rangpoo Khola is a collaboration of three holy lake and river, namely Tshangu Lake, Mementshu Lack and Gnathang river. Trout fish ( Kasahmirea ) is one of the best, popular and delicious fish found in this river. It is saying that before 200 years agoPrincesses of Sikkim has brought it from Kashmir. Trout is classifide into three verities that is Golden with red botted, light black and silver shiny with red and black botted.
Baudha cave is situated in a northern part of extreme Rolep village in a very dense forest. It is one of the most important place for the people of Sikkim, Bhutan, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and other states. It is believed that those pilgrimages who walk without taking restgo up to the Dham, their wishes will be fulfill by the God of Boudha cave.
